I purchased my 1981 DeLorean, #1374, 2.5 years ago on May 25th 2012. When I found the car, it had been tucked away in an airplane hangar and hadn't been driven since 1994. The previous owner had relocated the car from Arizona, where it sold new, to Seattle Washington. The car presented several challenges. Some of them were the normal ones you'd expect from an 81 DMC (e.g. fuel system, brake rebuild, bushings, etc.) The interior required special attention due to Arizona climate and the
mice that had taken up residence while stored. I jumped in with both feet, but I decided I would only work on the car when I enjoyed it. If something was to frustrate me or become a larger problem then I was willing to deal with at the time, I'd simply close the garage door and return when I was excited and ready to get back to the project. I was able to maintain a relaxed attitude while parts sourcing and researching the information needed to do a proper job.
On November 8th 2014, the car rolled out on to the public roads for the first time under its own steam since 1994. Two weeks prior, Seattle band Hobosexual had asked if they could use the car in their upcoming video “BMX”. It was the perfect kick in the pants to finish up the car! I had a great time working with writer/director Brian Stabile and the crew for the scenes involving the car.
